Senior Citizen Computer Education Program

This inter-generational program brought together high school students from the Ramapo Central School District and senior citizens from the Town of Ramapo. The purpose of the program was to introduce the usage of computers to seniors. Students were an integral part of the program, working with the seniors as they learned to navigate the computer screen with a mouse, search for topics of interest, purchase books/items on line and e-mail their grandchildren. This program was free of charge.

Memoir Recording

Another inter-generational program exposing students to history! Students from the Ramapo Central School District will research historical topics, formulate questionnaires and interview senior citizens based on life experiences of the seniors. Topics such as the Holocaust, the Korean War, life in Suffern in the early 1900′s, and many others will be explored. The senior citizens will be recorded both by videotape and on audio and will be able to take home their memoirs as a lifetime memento for their own families. All memoir recordings will be available on various web sites such as the REACHFoundation.org, ramapocentral.org (Ramapo Central School District) and the Rockland County Historical Society web site. What a wonderful resource for students to tap into! This program is free of charge; however, donations from the memoir recorder or his/her family to REACH are of course always welcome.
