Mini-Grant Application

The Reach Foundation of Rockland, Inc. is delighted to be able to announce the availability of grant opportunities for Spring 2008.

One of the goals of the Reach Foundation is to support and enhance the educational experience of Ramapo Central students. The Reach Foundation is looking for programs that exhibit innovation and creativity and/or improve the quality of life in our community by encouraging volunteer service. Through this grant process, REACH hopes to encourage creativity and the hard work of our staff and students.

You can participate in this process by submitting a project for grant funding. Please review this application carefully to ensure that your proposal fits the criteria. We look forward to working with you this year, and in future years, to provide the best possible opportunities for our students and community.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted and postmarked (or emailed) on or before Monday, October 13th, 2008. Grant applications in the amount of $1000 or less will be given priority. The application must be typed and signed, either on the application form or on a computer using an electronic version of the form.

The REACH Foundation Mini-Grant form is available in MS Word format (56K) or Adobe Acrobat format (40K).

Please attach additional pages only if necessary. The Grants Committee will review all applications and make a recommendation for funding to the Foundation Board of Directors.

All applicants will be notified of the results within six weeks of the deadline for submission. Grants will be awarded at the Board of Education's November 2008 meeting. Grant monies must be used within 18 months from the date they are awarded or monies will be reverted back to The REACH Foundation. Follow up progress reports are due from grant recipients within 30 days of the project completion date.

If there are any questions, please contact the grants committee via the email contact us form.

All questions should be submitted before October 10th, 2008. Please submit applications to:

The Reach Foundation of Rockland, Inc.
PO Box 760
Tallman NY 10982 or via e-mail to: Grants@ReachFoundation.org.

Grant Criteria

The Grants Committee will use the following criteria when reviewing proposal-funding requests. The numbers in parentheses indicate total points possible:

  1. How is this project innovative or creative? (15)
  2. What is the educational value of this project? (25)
  3. How are students involved or affected by this project? (20)
  4. How does this project fulfill an unmet need? (20)
  5. Are the resources purchased for this project reusable? (15)
  6. To what degree does this project encourage volunteer service? (5)

Please be sure to address the criteria in your grant application. If your project encourages student volunteer services, improves the quality of life in our community or requests equipment, please be sure to elaborate in the project description. The Foundation may not be able to fund all requests for budgetary reasons, even though a rejected request may be a beneficial project. The more criteria a request meets, the more likely it will be funded.

Applications requesting multiple year funding, teacher stipends, student scholarships, or teacher travel expenses will not be funded. Proposals to fund existing projects are discouraged unless the project will change significantly from its current status. REACH grants are intended for items that, in general, are outside the scope of what can be funded by Ramapo Central.
